Beta Club “Share the Warmth” Campaign Supports Local Homeless Population

Backpacks and blankets. Two simple items that most of us use everyday without much of a thought. For a homeless person, a blanket means staying warm through a winter night, and a backpack is a way to carry your belongings. Through their “Spread the Warmth” campaign, As-Sabeel Academy’s Beta Club collected more than 150 backpacks and blankets which were donated to Upstate Housing Connections who will deliver them to local homeless people this month. Thank you to all who supported this effort through your donations! A huge thank you to Mrs. Fareeha, our Beta Club Sponsor, Beta Club officers and...

Mufti Menk Visits As-Sabeel

With all of the challenges many are facing, it is wonderful to be able to share some good news.  Mufti Menk – yes that Mufti Menk – visited As-Sabeel Academy 5th – 8th graders on Wednesday, December 16th, !  He spoke for a few minutes, took questions from students, and then recited Quran, all via Zoom.  He was, mash’Allah, very generous with his time and spent about 1 hour with our students.   It was an inspirational time and a great honor for our school and community, Alhamdulilah. A special thank you to Beta Club and their Sponsor, Mrs. Fareeha for organizing this event!

Return to School Plan 2020

Return to School Plan 2020

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents, The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on children and families.  Reopening schools is critical to the well-being and growth of students, allowing them to engage academically, socially, and spiritually with their peers and teachers.  At the same time, schools shoulder a great responsibility to keep their students, staff, and families safe.  Although times are challenging, we know that our faith in Allah (SWT) will sustain us.  We ask for His guidance and protection as we forge ahead. As-Sabeel Academy’s Return to School Plan (click to access the plan) represents a summer of diligent and...

COVID-19 Response

COVID-19 Response

As-Sabeel Academy is committed to safely opening for the 2020-2021 school year.  Our Administration and School Board are currently working on plans for opening under different scenarios.  Our top priorities are student and faculty safety and continued academic, spiritual, and social growth and well-being for our students. As a small, private school, we have several unique advantages as we face this situation. Small class sizes mean that students will have low levels of exposure and will have more time for individualized instruction. Making adjustments to protocols and procedures is easily done with a school of our size. We can ensure...

COVID-19 Closure

COVID-19 Closure

On April 22nd, Governor McMaster announced that SC students will not return to school this year. This means that all SC schools, including As-Sabeel Academy, will continue with e-learning for the remainder of this school year, with our last day of school officially being June 4th, as indicated by our regular school calendar. You can read the details here: https://www.wyff4.com/article/greenville-county-schools-sends-message-about-schools-remaining-closed-for-the-year/32238075 Although we miss our students dearly, remaining physically closed is the best way to protect our students, faculty, and our entire school family for the time being. Our teachers will continue to work to provide the best possible experience for...

Beta Club Meets Mayor Knox White

Beta Club Meets Mayor Knox White

As-Sabeel Academy’s Jr. Beta Club had the opportunity to go to Greenville City Hall and meet Mayor Knox White on January 22nd.  The students sat in City Council chambers as they listened to Mayor White explain how the city government is structured.  Students were interested to learn that Mayor White, along with all the other City Council Members are only part-time city employees.  Mayor White actually works as an immigration attorney in addition to his job as the Mayor. Mayor White also told students about a major project that the city is currently working on.  It’s a new park called...
